Abstract:We applied the fitting test method to research on the normal distribution charac teristics of the precipitation in Yunnan province with 125 stations rainfall dat a from 1961 to 2000 month by month,and divide the Yunnan’s precipitation normal distribution into three main regions.The results indicated that there is abviou sly less stations passed significance test in rainy season in Yunnan (from May to October) than in dry season (from November to April in next year).There are onl y four stations passed significance test on August,while there are 97 stations p assed significance on December and it is 77.6 percent of the whole province.It m eans that the most of Yunnan’s precipitation in rainy season belong to normal d istribution,on the contrary,the most of Yunnan’s precipitation in dry season d onot belong to normal distribution.At the same time,the Yunnan’s precipitation norm al distribution has some regional features and local ones.The different month in same station has different normal distribution characteristics.So it is very im portant to consider the normal distribution characteristics when we make the for ecast of precipitation in Yunnan province.
