Abstract:In general, the measurement of the weather radar targets' reflectivity factor Z is calculated according to the transfer characteristic parameters (slo pe S and intercept B) of the input signal having a stable amplitude, which is obt ained from radar logarithmic receiver, and the application of radar meteorologica l equation. So the calibration must be frequently done because of the change of t he transfer characteristic with time. This paper presents a new method obtaining in real-time a set of dynamical measurements of slopes of the curve representin g the logarithmic receiver transfer chracteristic Si by using the weather echo signal of each range-bin at output of radar signal processor, and thus est imating quickly and effectively the average slope 〖AKS-〗 and its relev ant intercept B. Moreover, the technique may be used to examine easily the change of the transfer characteristic with time so that the S and B are updated duly and the estimated accuracy of the reflectivity factor is maintaine d.
