Abstract:The jumping heavy rain occurred in Anhui province was analyzed with GMS-5 vapor cloud chart, infrared cloud chart, TBB and hourly rainfall data. The result showed:(1) GMS infrared cloud chart clearly discovered that the main rain band jumping north three times caused the whole jumping heavy rain of double Mei-Yu in Anhui province. The cyclone that once kept and rotated at Hetao region moved south and brought cold air, which played an important role. GMS infrared cloud chart clearly distinguished the influencing systems and cloud mass which directly brought precipitation at different stages and their characteristics. (2) Vapor images could not only reflect deep synoptic system but also expose more clearly than infrared cloud chart the occurrence and development of deep mesoscale and small scale system and their characteristics which is difficult to find and analyze in infrared cloud chart. It was very clear that at the stage of cyclogenesis during heavy rain band's thirdly jumping, there was not cloud system with anticyclonic structure in infrared cloud chart, while anticyclonic vapor feather obviously formed at the dot "A" in vapor cloud chart, developed and protruded north while moving east. It showed that the vapor image was significative of the prediction of the system's development in future. (3) In general, rain mass corresponded to the region of TBB≤-53 ℃, and strong rain mass corresponded to the region of TBB≤-63 ℃.
