On the basis of conventional meteorological data, rice yield data and observed data of growth duration of rice during 1961—2007 in Jiangsu, both spatial-temporal distribution of the rice heat damage in the period of jointing stage and milk-filling stage and impact of climate change on the rice heat damage are analyzed. Furthermore, three kinds of statistical models (Gumbel, Weibull and Lognormal) are used to fit the series of annual durative high temperature days, in order to calculate the fifty year and one hundred year recurrence period of the rice heat damage, which are very important and necessary for policymakers of the local government to mitigate the rice heat damage.
