為了評估同化QuikSCAT海平面氣壓場資料和Dropsonde資料對臺風“Bilis”和“Katrina”模擬的影響,通過WRF3DVAR變分同化系統(tǒng)將QuikSCAT海平面氣壓場資料和Dropsonde資料同化到WRF模式中,并以未同化任何資料和同化了QuikSCAT海平面氣壓場以及同化了Dropsonde資料的數(shù)據(jù)為初始場,應用WRF模式進行模擬預報,并對得到的初始分析場和模擬預報得到的結果與臺風實況報文進行了對比,得到的結論是:對臺風初始時刻海平面氣壓場分布、初始臺風中心定位、臺風初始暖心結構的改善、臺風路徑、海平面最低氣壓場、海面最大風速和雷達回波的模擬方面,同化QuikSCAT海平面氣壓場的效果比同化Dropsonde資料明顯,其中二者對海平面最低氣壓場的改進效果比海面最大風速的要好。但是兩種資料的同化對初始相對濕度和臺風強度細節(jié)變化方面都沒有產(chǎn)生明顯改善作用。同化QuikSCAT海平面氣壓場試驗雖然僅僅同化了單層海平面氣壓場,但是在三維變分同化系統(tǒng)的動力約束作用下,也可以影響到中高層的各個要素場。

Abstract:

To evaluate the impact of scatterometer and dropsonde data on the typhoon Bilis and Katrina simulation the sea surface pressure aboard QuikSCAT and dropsonde data are assimilated into WRF model by WRF-3DVAR variational assimilation system. Based on the initial fields without assimilating any data and with assimilating sea surface pressure aboard QuikSCAT or dropsonde data, the Bilis and Katrina typhoons are simulated by WRF model. And the obtained initial analyzed fields and the simulated results are compared with the typhoon report. The results show that the impacts of assimilating the sea surface pressure aboard QuikSCAT on the improving the initial value and forecasting the typhoon are more obvious than those of assimilating the dropsonde data, including the sea surface pressure distribution, the location of typhoon center, the warmer core structure at typhoon initial fields, as well as the simulated typhoon track, the lowest sea surface pressure, the largest sea surface wind speed and radar echo. And by assimilating both data the improvement in the lowest sea surface pressure field is more evident than that in the largest sea surface wind speed, however no effect on the relative humidity at the initial field and the detailed change of typhoon intensity can be found. Although assimilating sea surface pressure aboard QuikSCAT just involved monolayer sea surface pressure, due to the dynamical restriction process of WRF3DVAR the effect can spread towards all element fields at the higher level.
