The wind energy resource of representative months (January,April,July,October)in Hongze lake is numerically simulated by WRF model. The simulated result and the real data are compared. The results show that the simulated results are reliable. Simulation results of characters of the wind resource in Hongze lake show as follows. The seasonal wind variation is characterized by the maximum in spring and the minimum in summer; wind speed around the lake is greater than that on the land, and the gradient along the lakeshore changes significantly. Wind speed increases with the increased height, when reaching a certain height, wind speed growth weakened.
