Abstract:By using the 50 a (1961—2010) monthly temperature data from 41 sites in Jiangsu province, 500 hPa height field and SST field, the spatial and temporal characteristics of summer temperature and its related anomalous general atmosphere circulation are analyzed. It is found that the amplitude of summer temperature becomes stronger from north to south in Jiangsu province; amplitude of summer temperature is always smaller than that of other three seasons; the days of negative anomaly show an increasing-decreasing trend in each region, but opposite in the positive anomaly; furthermore, the 500 hPa height anomaly of cold summers, bears the characteristics of negative anomaly in Korean Peninsula, which shows meridional circulation in high latitude in Asia, while in warm summers a positive anomaly occurs in Korean Peninsula, which shows zonal circulation in high latitude in Asia; in pre-cold summers, it shows weak western Pacific subtropical high, while in pre-warm ones, western Pacific subtropical high becomes strong. The SST takes on La Nina features in cold and pre-cold summers, while El Nino features in warm and pre-warm summers.
