Abstract:By using the recorded data and the wavelet analysis method, the relation between QBO periodic variation and planetary motion is studied. Results show that QBO cycle is based on Mars opposition period (25.68 months), and sometimes it is longer, sometimes it is shorter. When the Earth, Saturn, Uranus were in a line, the 30 hPa zonal easterly wind converts to the westerly; when the three celestial bodies were at right angle, the westerly wind converts to the easterly. A significant connection exists between QBO cycle and Jupiter at opposition declination, when Jupiter opposition declination reaches the positive extreme (the winter of northern hemisphere), QBO cycle reaches its maximum, while Jupiter opposition declination reaches its negative extreme (the summer of northern hemisphere), QBO cycle approaches to its minimum. The correlation coefficient between QBO cycle and Jupiter opposition declination amounts to 0.496, it means confidence correlation test greater than 0.001. QBO intensity is in inverse phase with QBO cycle and Jupiter opposition declination, that is, strong (weak) QBO intensity corresponds to the short (long) QBO period and negative (positive) Jupiter opposition declination. In the past 60 years, QBO intensity has been increasing with Uranus declination decreasing.
