The Doppler radar echo includes precipitation echo and the clutter. A number of statistical researches found that many radar clutters are very useful, for example, the fire echo described in this paper. The fire echo characteristics and identification method were analyzed and the operational application processes of fire echo identification was proposed. A typical forest fire case on January 23, 2015 and the petrochemical explosion at Gulei, Zhangzhou on April 6, 2015 were analyzed to clarify the characteristics of fire echo in detail.
